Dr. Amy Shearer PhD RN CEN CHSE is a graduate of Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital School of Nursing with an RN Diploma, the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master of Science in Nursing Leadership and Education from Carlow University and a PhD in Nursing Education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She began her teaching career as adjunct faculty teaching clinical and didactic courses at several LPN, ASN, and ADN programs in the Western Pennsylvania area. Dr. Shearer transitioned to full-time faculty in 2012 the Penn State University, Fayette Campus and has been at the Pitt-Greensburg campus since 2019, becoming Program Director in 2023. She also serves as the Student Nurse Association advisor. Dr. Shearer holds certifications in both Emergency Nursing and Simulation Education. Professionally, Dr. Shearer still remains active in her nursing practice as a staff nursing in the Emergency Department at Independence Health System Westmoreland Hospital, where she has worked for over 20 years.
