Academic Village Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I apply to join the Academic Village?

You must first submit a Housing Application.
At the end of the Housing Application there will be a link to the Academic Village Application. Your application will be reviewed as soon as possible by the Academic Village admission committee.
- Do I need to live on campus to be part of the Academic Village?

No! While there is no application process for students who will not be living in the Academic Village, we encourage non-resident students to participate in Academic Village programming, join the Academic Village Senate, and become part of life in the Academic Village.
Students who live in other residence halls on campus are of course welcome to participate in Academic Village activities, as well!
- How is my Academic Village application evaluated?

Qualified students who apply and agree to the Academic Village Membership Agreement will be evaluated using several factors, including but not limited date of application and GPA. Learn more »
- Once I've been accepted in to the Academic Village, is there any way I can lose my place?

Yes. Academic Village members are held to high academic standards and are expected to be active members of the Academic Village community. Grades and participation are evaluated each semester, and members must reapply every year to remain in Academic Village housing.
- What are the Academic Village residence halls like?

Living in the Village offers privacy with the comforts of home in a full-size, apartment-style accommodation. Four Academic Village students share an apartment consisting of four private bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and a full-size kitchen and living room. Learn more »
- What kinds of topics and interests are represented in Academic Village programs?

The short answer is - ANYTHING!
We encourage and provide resources to students to explore subjects that interest them by designing Academic Village programs with other students, faculty, and staff. In turn, faculty members hold Academic Village programs that expand upon what they teach in class.
Some recent examples of Academic Village programs include:
- Carnaval celebration
- Campus Alliance for Free Thought discussions
- Spoken Word performers
- Mindfulness Workshops
- Which professors are involved in the Academic Village

Faculty from every program develop activities within the Academic Village. The Academic Village community nurtures unique, lasting relationships between faculty and students as they collaborate on event planning, debates and discussions, and more!
