Roland Woods

Assistant Dean of Students and Civil Rights & Title IX Liaison, Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Roland Woods began serving as the Assistant Dean of Students & Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the University of Pittsburgh Greensburg Campus in December 2022. He has also worked in the Office of Human Resources at Pitt Main Campus from 2020 to 2022 as the Workforce Development Career Counselor.

Roland has accumulated over 20 years of leadership experiences working for profit & nonprofit organizations such as Pittsburgh Job Corps Center, Duquesne Club Health & Fitness Center, Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh, Center for Employment Opportunities, and Mount Ararat Baptist Church.

Those leadership experiences include implementing academic pedagogy, counseling, academic advising, student involvement, and career development. Roland is also known for mentoring and coaching young adults, formulating a Community Building Program for at risk youth, overseen Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiatives, facilitating life/soft skills programs, and developed a pipeline with employers for job seekers.

Some of Roland’s many accomplishments include authoring a book titled, “Unconscious, How to Overcome the Knockout Blows of Life” and receiving the “2022 Employer of the Year Award” from Mon Valley Initiative for working to help individuals find meaningful work and achieve financial stability and independence.

Roland holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Point Park University, Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management from Slippery Rock University, and Associate’s Degree in General Studies from Community College of Allegheny County. In addition, he holds a Massage Therapy Certification and Personal Training Diploma.

He is married to his lovely wife Sheilah and through their union they have three children and 1 dog together named Tyree, Breah, Mariah, and their Shih Tzu dog named Bentley.
