Essential First Steps
- File your FAFSA as soon as possible
-
To receive an offer of financial aid, you must first complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible. The FAFSA can be completed any time after October 1st of each year. Please visit studentaid.gov. Pitt-Greensburg recommends that you apply as soon as possible, as Pitt begins financial aid awarding in February.
Please use the University of Pittsburgh code: 008815 to ensure that the University of Pittsburgh receives your FAFSA information.
Your social security number is required to match your student record to your FAFSA.
If you did not include your social security number on your application for admission, please call 724-836-7165 to supply it.
- Start checking your Pitt email daily
-
Your Pitt email account will now be the primary and official means by which the university will communicate with you.
We will be using your Pitt email account instead of your personal email address to communicate important information, so please monitor your new email account daily.
You can access your email account and student information at https://my.pitt.edu/. Your username is the same as your Pitt email address, without the "@pitt.edu"
If you do not know your Pitt email address or your password, you can call the 24/7 Technology Help Desk at 412-624-4357.

- Meet with an academic advisor and schedule your classes
-
Academic advising is an essential component of your education. We are here to provide ongoing guidance and support throughout your college journey.
To ensure that your student account is fully activated, please schedule your academic advising appointment at least one week after you have paid your tuition deposit, and submitted your covid-19 documentation. To schedule your academic advising appointment, please call 724-836-9940.
To help us help you, please be sure to send official college transcripts from each college or university you have attended previously. It is essential that the transcripts arrive at least three business days prior to your advising appointment to allow time for the transfer credit evaluation process.

Making Payments
If you have a balance due you may pay your balance in full by the due date, or you can elect to enroll in a PittPAY Payment Plan and pay in installments over time instead. (PittPAY - login to my.pitt.edu and search for "PittPAY.")
Our optional Payment Plan is designed to help families spread out the balance due on the student account over a series of regular installments. Depending on the date you enroll in a Payment Plan, you may be eligible for up to six installments for fall or spring terms, or up to 3 installments for the summer term. Payment Plan installments will be automatically deducted on the 5th of each month from the bank account or credit card (service fee is applied for this payment option) you specify when enrolling in the plan. There is a $45 fee to enroll in the payment plan.
For your convenience, weekly Balance Due Notifications are sent by email to students and their Authorized Users when there is a balance due on the student account. Due dates can be viewed on the PittPAY account on the Account Summary and Account Activity tabs or at payments.pitt.edu. Payment must be received by the due dates to avoid a late payment fee.
Pay Online
Payments can be made through PittPAY by either eCheck (electronic check) or credit card.
- eCheck - Payments made in PittPAY by electronic check, or eCheck, are offered at no charge to you.
- Credit Cards - While the University does not accept credit card payments directly, we have arranged for a third-party vendor to accept Discover Card, MasterCard, and Visa when payment is made online through PittPAY. You will be charged a non-refundable service fee of 2.75% by the vendor for this service. This fee will be in addition to tuition, fee, housing, and meal payments when you choose to pay by credit card.
Authorized Users
Students can designate parents, guardians, spouses, or others to access their student account in PittPAY as Authorized Users. Students must initiate the process by logging into PittPAY and selecting “Set up Authorized User” by selecting that menu option in PittPAY and following the instructions. Authorized Users can then log into PittPAY to view the student account details, view and make online payments, enroll in an optional payment plan on the student’s behalf, and generate a statement of account by term. We cannot discuss the student account details with anyone except Authorized Users.
