Academic Village Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I apply to join the Academic Village?
New students must submit a Housing Application. On the application, indicate Academic Village as the first location preference. New students that are eligible will be placed based on the date the housing application is received. To be eligible, new students must have a minimum 3.0 QPA and not enrolled in the Bridge Program.
Students who are members of the David C. Frederick Honors College are guaranteed placement in the Academic Village, provided they complete the housing application by the best-consideration date.
- Do I need to live on campus to be part of the Academic Village?
No! While there is no application process for students who will not be living in the Academic Village, we encourage non-resident students to participate in Academic Village programming and become part of life in the Academic Village.
Students who live in other residence halls on campus are of course welcome to participate in Academic Village activities, as well!
- Once I've been accepted in to the Academic Village, is there any way I can lose my place?
Yes. The only students guaranteed placement in the Academic Village are those in Honors College, who must complete the room selection process by the stated deadlines each year. Other Academic Village residents must maintain a minimum 2.0 and accumulate 150 GEM/OCC points by spring break to be eligible. All students that are eligible for the Academic Village must then participate in room selection where they may select a space in the Academic Village, but they are not guaranteed placement.
- What are the Academic Village residence halls like?
See video at top of page.
