Background
Pitt-Greensburg Esports is giving an opportunity to a new generation of athletes and competitors. We are the first varsity Esports team in Westmoreland County, PA and in the Pitt system. Pitt-Greensburg looks to draw in the best players possible to compete in a variety of game titles, while also prioritizing a quality liberal arts education.
"Very soon after arriving at Pitt-Greensburg, it became apparent to me that an Esports program would be an exciting addition to the extracurricular options for our students. After a couple of conversations we decided to move forward right away with the development of an Esports team. I am very excited about the great progress that has been made so far, and look forward to watching our Esports program develop."
– Dr. Robert Gregerson, President of Pitt-Greensburg
Starting in the spring semester in 2020 the Esports program is offering varsity teams for:
- Overwatch
- Hearthstone
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
We are also continuing to expand by adding more competitive titles. The program is looking to add varsity teams in
- League of Legends
- Rocket League
- Fortnite
in the fall of the 2020-21 season and having us grow to 30+ players.
